The sleek new BlackBerry is on the way and the nerds, geeks, AND SUPER MODELS are eating it up. If a super model ever did eat anything would it be a berry over an apple? Well, that is “the right question” Mr. iRobot IT nerd type guy sporting his/her older model BlackBerry Perl. It’s time to get BOLD!
So now we take the Apple iPhone and put it up against the BlackBerry Bold aka the BlackBerry 9000. Everyone who will not consider switching to an iPhone or they have service with a carrier other than ATT will say the new BlackBerry Bold is a worthy competitor to the iPhone. Apple iPhone users will say the whole BlackBerry family will never compete with the iPhone and the BlackBerry is for IT guys who are required by their jobs to use the crackberry device. So which one really is the “better” one?
The BlackBerry Bold sports a plethora of features and a new sexy look. Put those two together and you have an iPhone beater right? Research In Motion defiantly took a few hints from the iPhone to FIT into that type of market of the hipno-tech modern day iPod lovers society. No one can really deny that the Bold looks sexy but is it sexy enough to get the attention of an devoted iPod or iPhone consumer?
RIM BlackBerry Bold (9000) Features
3G (3.5G HSDPA), Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, 480×320 screen resolution, QWERTY keyboard, trackball for navigation, desktop-style web browser, 2MP camera with video recording, 5x digital zoom and a built-in camera flash. Now we are talking some techie language. This baby is packed full of everything you NEED with the looks to go with it. If there was ever such thing as a sexy blonde with brains this is it. I think we can all say this leaves the iPhone in the dust begging for an upgrade. But that’s just what will happen folks, the Apple iPhone is due for a major upgrade (software) and the release of a new 3G iPhone in the coming weeks. Lets move on and talk about THE IPHONE.
Apple iPhone Features
2.5G (slow ATT EDGE data connection), iPod functionality, WiFi, Bluetooth, on-screen QWERTY keyboard, touch screen, Safari web browser, 2MP camera…… Oh, we didn’t run out of room did we? I think that is it. Well, that is not near as long as the BlackBerry Bold’s list of highlighted features. So where did we go wrong with the iPhone? Actually, the iPod functionality alone should make up for at least 3 or 4 of the BlackBerry Bold’s features. Let’s not forget the fact that the 3G iPhone will be out soon and the current iPhone gets actual apps from Apple and 3rd parties. That alone will open up the iPhone to even more features.
Sex appeal and usability (user friendliness)
The new BlackBerry Bold is a nice looker with the chrome border and deep black casing. This is the thinnest BlackBerry yet sporting a flush fitting integrated QWERTY keyboard. Actually this reminds me of the Apple iPhone. It also has a similar look with the chrome outline and black sleek look. If you sqwent your eyes enough the iPhone looks just like the BlackBerry Bold… or is it that the BlackBerry Bold looks like the iPhone? Ahh, the BOLD looks like the iPhone.
No other phone in the world had accomplished what the iPhone has. The iPhone has an interface not found on any other device (except the iPod touch of course). The iPhone may be easy for some to use depending on if they like typing via the on-screen keyboard. That is one of the main quirks of why people do not choose an iPhone aside from the high list price. The RIM BlackBerry Bold has the “normal” form factor of a QWERTY keyboard similar to what is found on most PDA phones on the current market. The BlackBerry Bold has not been officially priced yet but many expect prices to be on par of the current top of the line model BlackBerrys. The usability of the BlackBerry Bold remains to be solid with some basic “BlackBerry” functions and menus only this time it utilizes the primary trackball in the front center of the phone. Some BlackBerry users may have to adjust to this but I am sure it won’t take them long to do that.
The BlackBerry Bold (9000) does not have an official release date yet but we will be sure to report back to you once it comes out. We can do a “down and dirty” side-by-side comparison with the iPhone vs. the BlackBerry Bold 9000.
We want to hear from you and get your scoop on the new BlackBerry 9000 Bold vs. the iPhone!
